Shooting from the "hip" or chest or anywhere other than in front of your face quite often is the secret to a more natural picture. This shot of our hiking leader was taken as I was talking to him, with the camera held in front of me--but not at eye level! He didn't know I took the photo. And that's why his smile is a natural one. Keeping the subject engaged and unaware of the camera is a great way to get natural looking images. Even his wife likes this one!
